• NID receives $615,000 CAL FIRE grant to protect critical water infrastructure from wildfire (yubanet.com) — Penn Valley’s water supply is tied to the South Yuba Canal, which is getting a $615,000 CAL FIRE grant to reduce wildfire risk along a vulnerable 2.5‑mile wooden flume. Nevada Irrigation District will thin trees, create shaded fuel breaks, and protect the system that delivers drinking and irrigation water and supports power generation for western Nevada County communities.
