140-Acre Fire Near Petaluma Contained

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Firefighters have contained a grass fire southeast of Petaluma in Sonoma County at 141 acres, Cal Fire said.

Reported before 4 p.m. Saturday, the fire started in the 600 block of Stage Gulch Road in a rural area south of state Highway 116 (Lakeville Highway) about three miles southeast of Petaluma, Cal Fire said.

There were no reports of injuries or damage to structures, firefighters said.

Low humidity and high winds helped the spread of this fire and two other large vegetation fires Saturday in the Bay Area. In Solano County, firefighters were contending with a grass fire southwest of Winters that, as of 6:30 p.m., has consumed about 500 acres and was threatening at least 100 structures. Mandatory evacuations were called in that area Saturday afternoon.

In Concord in Contra Costa County, which as of 7 p.m. Saturday had grown to 136 acres. Contra Costa County fire crews reported that forward progress of that fire has been stopped.
