Air Quality Warnings Triggered by Pickett Fire Continues In Three Counties

Petaluma, CA — The Bay Area Air District has extended an air quality advisory to three counties in the shadow of smoke caused by the Pickett Fire.

Residents of Sonoma, Napa, and Solano counties should minimize outdoor time to limit their exposure to wildfire smoke.

Exposure to the fine particulates and pollutants released by wildfires is unhealthy even for short periods of time, according to the agency, which is responsible for air quality in the nine-county Bay Area.

Children, older adults, and people with heart or lung conditions are especially at risk.

Conditions have not triggered a Spare the Air Alert.

But residents should stay inside with windows and doors closed if possible, and if temperatures allow, until smoke levels subside. They can reduce exposure with filtering systems at home, while motoring, and while outdoors, such as a library or mall.
