Coast Guard Rescues 8 Off Bodega Bay, Point Reyes

The U.S. Coast Guard made 16 rescues around the Bay Area over the weekend, eight of which were made by the Coast Guard Bodega Bay station.

BODEGA BAY, CA — Coast Guard Station Bodega Bay rescued eight people Sunday off the Sonoma and Marin county coastlines.

The first rescue took place Sunday afternoon. A 24-foot boat became disabled one mile west of Kehoe Beach. The Coast Guard Bodega Bay station brought five people to safety.

Later Sunday afternoon, Coast Guard Station Golden Gate and Station Bodega Bay rescued three people when their 25-foot boat became disabled 20 miles west of Point Reyes.

The eight rescues were among 16 that took place over the weekend off the Bay Area and Monterey coastlines.

On Friday, an Air Station San Francisco MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew rescued three people from a 16-foot boat that had become grounded in mud on San Pablo Bay.

Saturday morning, crew members from Coast Guard Station Monterey rescued a diver next to the station’s pier after hearing the diver's distress whistle during morning colors. Emergency medical personnel arrived shortly after Coast Guard crew members rescued the diver.

Saturday afternoon, a Coast Guard Station Golden Gate 47-foot motor lifeboat crew towed a 21-foot boat with four people on board after their boat became disabled off Baker Beach.
