At 4:51 p.m., authorities were discussing whether to put up signs advising drivers on eastbound Highway 37 and northbound U.S. Highway 101 that Highway 121 was closed because of the fire.
Firefighters apparently quickly gained the upper hand because, at 5:05 p.m., the CHP reported that SR-121 was reopened in both directions.
It was not immediately clear whether the blazes were being fought jointly or as separate incidents.
