Driver Dies, Passenger Injured In Crash Near Petaluma
The fatal crash on Old Adobe Road involved a BMW 328i and a Cadillac CTS.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — One person died, and another person suffered major injuries in a crash early Thursday in an unincorporated area of Petaluma, the California Highway Patrol said.
The CHP responded at 12:38 a.m. to Old Adobe Road at Casa Grande Road, where a BMW 328i and a Cadillac CTS — both sedans— had collided.
The CHP's preliminary investigation indicated the BMW was traveling southbound on Old Adobe Road, north of Casa Grande Road, and just behind the Cadillac when the driver crossed the double-yellow lines to pass the Cadillac.

As the BMW driver crossed back into the southbound lane, the car's right rear collided with the Cadillac's left front.
The impact caused the BMW driver to lose control and the car left the roadway and collided with a eucalyptus tree.

The BMW driver suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office will release the deceased person's name once their family members are properly notified.
Emergency personnel took the BMW passenger to a hospital for treatment of major injuries suffered in the crash.
The Cadillac driver did not suffer injuries.
