The car, an older VW Beetle, came to rest on top of a billboard barrier and had significant front-end damage, police said.

PETALUMA, CA — A Santa Rosa woman was arrested early this morning on suspicion of drunken driving after crashing a Volkswagen Beetle through a fence along East Washington Street in Petaluma, police said. Laura McDaniel, 22, was driving 60 mph in a 25 mph zone on East
Washington at about 1:38 a.m. when her car went off the road at Copeland Street, Petaluma police said.

The VW jumped the sidewalk, drove through a chainlink fence and collided with a barrier protecting a billboard, according to police. The car, an older VW Beetle, came to rest on top of the barrier and had significant front-end damage.

Police said McDaniel's blood alcohol level measured twice the legal limit and she had minor injuries from the crash. Due to her injuries, she was issued a citation and released.
