PENNGROVE, CA — An injured owl was recently rescued by California Highway Patrol in Sonoma County.

"While conducting a traffic stop on US-101 in Penngrove, officers spotted an injured owl on the shoulder," according to a social media post Monday from the agency's Santa Rosa Facebook page. "Officer Burner carefully scooped up the owl and transported it to Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue for care."

This is not Burner's first owl rescue. CHP-Santa Rosa also posted on Facebook in November about Burner aiding an owl on the shoulder of US-101 at Canyon Road further north in Geyserville.
