PETALUMA, CA — A major water main leak Thursday in Petaluma prompted the Petaluma Water Department to shut off water to certain areas but the water has since been turned back on, the Petaluma Police Department said in an update at 7:30 p.m.

About two hours earlier, at 5:49 p.m. Thursday, police said water was shut off in the following areas of northwest Petaluma: Magnolia, White Oak Circle, Acorn Circle, Sycamore Lane, Madrone Lane, Pepperwood Lane and Hawthorn Court.
