Man Suspected Of DUI In Petaluma Pileup Was On Probation For DUI

Petaluma police arrested a 31-year-old with a suspended license on suspicion of felony DUI following a three-car injury crash.

PETALUMA, CA — A 31-year-old man already on probation for felony DUI was arrested Saturday night in connection with a suspected drunken driving crash in Petaluma involving three cars, police said.

Herman Alvarado, of Petaluma, was taken into custody after the wreck, which occurred shortly before 7 p.m. at the intersection of East Washington and Payran streets.

There were no serious injuries in the collision but some people, including a child with a cut on the head, sought care from Petaluma Fire Department paramedics, police said.

Investigators suspect Alvarado had been drinking was under the influence when the crash occurred. He is currently on probation for a prior DUI and has a suspended driver's license for a previous DUI arrest, police said.

Alvarado was taken into custody on suspicion of felony DUI, probation violation and driving with a suspended driver license from a prior DUI. He was booked into Sonoma County Jail and his car was impounded.

Petaluma police said two other DUI arrests were made in the city on Saturday night.
