More Battery, Molestation Charges Filed Against Petaluma Chiropractor

SANTA ROSA-Additional charges were filed in Sonoma County Superior Court Tuesday morning against a Santa Rosa-based chiropractor accused of sexual battery and child molestation.

Daryoush “Darius” Mohammad Bunyad, 35, of Petaluma, is charged with six felony counts of sexual battery of a restrained person and five misdemeanor counts of annoying or molesting a child under age 18.

There initially were two alleged victims but there now are six female victims -- four minors and two adults, Deputy District Attorney Barbara Nanney said.

Some of the alleged victims worked for Bunyad’s practice at Health Performance Chiropractic at 208 E St., according to Santa Rosa police. Some of the employees who worked for Bunyad also received chiropractic treatment as part of their employment compensation, while the alleged offenses against two juvenile girls occurred in 2014, Nanney said.

Bunyad delayed entering a plea Tuesday and will return to court Jan. 12.

A motion to suspend Bunyad’s chiropractor’s license is scheduled for Friday in Sonoma County Superior Court.
