Passenger Killed, Driver Badly Injured In Fatal 3-Car DUI Crash On Narrow Roadway Near Petaluma: CHP
The fatal 3-car crash on Lakeville Highway near Petaluma involved nine people. One person was killed, two injured.
PETALUMA, CA — One person was killed and two more injured in a three-car, early-morning crash on a narrow, two-land roadway near Petaluma.
The crash happened about 5:56 a.m. on Sunday on the Lakeville Highway, just south of Old Lakeville Road No. 3, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford Mustang traveling southbound — trying to illegally pass a Toyota Highlander — crossed over the double yellow lines of the freeway and collided head-on with a Honda HR-V traveling northbound, CHP officers said in a statement.

The Toyota was stuck on the left side, causing the vehicle to spin off the roadway.
The Honda passenger was killed, and the driver was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.

The Ford driver, who was the sole occupant, suffered major injuries and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, according to the CHP.
The six occupants of the Toyota were not injured.
Lakeville Highway was closed and traffic rerouted for more than four hours.
