Petaluma Bicyclist Crashes Into City Bus
A Petaluma man suffered a head injury after riding his bicycle into the side of a Petaluma City bus Tuesday afternoon.

PETALUMA - A Petaluma man suffered a head injury after riding his bicycle into the side of a Petaluma City bus Tuesday afternoon, a Petaluma police sergeant said.
The 74-year-old Petaluma man said he rode too far out from the north sidewalk on East Washington Street and struck the right side of the westbound bus in the roadway, Sgt. Ron Klein said.
The collision occurred around 3 p.m. in the No. 2 lane of westbound East Washington Street west of Edith Street, Klein said.

A video taken from the front of the bus showed the bicyclist riding on the north sidewalk then turning left and entering the roadway.
The bicycle rider was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of a head injury he suffered when he fell and hit his head in the roadway, Klein said. Neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision, Klein said.

There were six passengers on the bus, which was driven by a 51-year-old Petaluma man.
None of the passengers were injured or saw the collision, Klein said.
The westbound lanes of East Washington Street were closed for 20 minutes during the investigation, Klein said.
