Petaluma Christmas Tree Recycling 2013/2014: How to Get Rid of Your Tree
Sonoma County residents have several options for Christmas tree disposal, pickup or drop-off.

Whether you're the type to toss your tree as soon as the wrapping paper is cleared from the living room or to let it hang around and slowly change colors into 2014, you'll have to say goodbye to your Christmas tree eventually.
Residents looking for Petaluma Christmas tree recycling have several options to consider:
Cut the tree to fit in your green waste bin (free) ...
Petaluma residents can dispose of Christmas trees on any date by cutting them to four-foot sections and placing them in their regular green waste bins for collection. Trees shouldn't be sticking out of the bins, according to the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency....Or have it picked up (free)
Petaluma residents can also place the full tree at their curb near the waste bins for pickup on their regular collection day between Dec. 30 and Jan. 3.
More details are available at the the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency's website.
Schedule a pickup by a local nonprofit ($7; $10 for trees taller than six feet)
Local nonprofits will be out in force collecting trees for the next three weekends. Call 707-565-3333 before Jan. 10 to schedule a pickup.Drop off the tree at the fairgrounds (free)
If you don't mind hauling your tree one more time, you can take it to the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds, 175 Fairgrounds Drive, for free disposal. Residents can dump up to two trees per day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Dec. 26 to Jan. 15.--
