Bodega Fire Forward Progress Stopped: CalFire
BREAKING: The fire near Petaluma is said to have broken out around 1 p.m. Sunday, filling the city with smoke.
PETALUMA, CA — Crews have stopped the forward spread of a vegetation fire that broke out Sunday afternoon at Bodega Avenue and Nosecchi Road on the west side of Petaluma, according to CalFire. Multiple agencies have responded to the fire and the Petaluma Fire Department says there is currently no threat to the city.
Petaluma police say they received numerous 911 calls regarding the fire in the 500 block of Bodega Avenue. Police also said there is currently no threat to the city and did not provide any further information.
Initially thought to be 25 acres, the incident dubbed the Bodega Fire was 18 acres and 60 percent contained CalFire reported in an update at 4:25 p.m. The fire broke out around 1 p.m, according to a report in the Press Democrat. Traffic along Bodega Avenue that runs from Petaluma to the coastal town of Bodega Bay appeared to be backed up.
