Petaluma Man Accused Of Assault With Deadly Weapon, Folding Knife
The victim told police he used his car door to shield himself from the knife.

PETALUMA, CA — A Petaluma man was arrested Thursday for pulling a knife on another man during an argument, police said.
Petaluma police officers responded at 7:13 p.m. Thursday to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 400 block of North McDowell Boulevard.
The suspect, later identified as David Magana Garcia, 37, of Petaluma, had taken off after the assault, police said.

The victim had photos of Garcia’s car and license plate and told police that at one point during an argument, Garcia pulled out a folding knife and lunged toward the victim with the knife. The told police he shielded himself from the knife by opening his car door.
The investigation led officers to Garcia’s residence, where he was detained in connection with the assault.

After the victim positively identified Garcia as the suspect, Garcia was arrested and booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
The Petaluma Police Department thanked the community members who helped officers apprehend this suspect.
