Petaluma Man Sentenced In Federal Court For Heroin Charge

The 32-year-old was pulled over on his way back from Sacramento, with a search of the car revealing 156.8 grams of heroin, authorities said.

BAY AREA, CA — A 32-year-old Petaluma man was sentenced Wednesday in San Francisco to 60 months in prison for possession of heroin for sale, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration officials said. Steven Roberson pleaded guilty in October to the charge, one week before 29-year-old Kelly Olson of Petaluma pleaded guilty to a similar charge, officials from the DEA and the United States Attorney's office said Wednesday.

DEA officials said that in February 2018, Roberson and Olson drove together from Petaluma to Sacramento, where they obtained heroin from a supplier. The pair was pulled over by police on their way back to Petaluma; a search of their car revealed 156.8 grams of heroin, along with digital scales and plastic baggies.

Last May, a federal grand jury indicted Roberson and Olson with one count each of conspiracy to possess heroin with intent to sell, and one count each of possession of heroin with intent to sell. Both persons pleaded guilty to possession, and the conspiracy charges were dismissed.
