Petaluma Pedestrian Struck By Car; Dies Of Head Injury
The pedestrian reportedly died of injuries that resulted after he fell backwards and hit his head on the road.

PETALUMA, CA — A pedestrian in Petaluma died after he was struck by a slow-moving vehicle on Saturday, authorities said.
The man reportedly fell backward and hit his head on the paved road near 333 N. McDowell Blvd at 12:42 p.m., the Petaluma Police Department wrote in a statement.
Officers nearby were already responding to another indecent when they heard the collision in the area. Police attempted to render medical aid until Petaluma paramedics arrived.

He was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officers said. His identity will not be released pending notification of next of kin, authorities said.
"According to officers and witnesses at the scene, this was a slow speed collision," police said.

The collision is still under investigation, police said. Anyone with information was urged to contact Traffic Officer Ben Schott at 707-778-4598.
