Police arrest Grant Douglas Lowrie, of Petaluma, on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and violation of probation.

A man who's currently on probation in Sonoma County was arrested Saturday morning on suspicion of burglary.

Police say Grant Douglas Lowrie, 24, of Petaluma, broke into a home on the 100 block of Howard Street and took several items including some boots and a bicycle.

The homeowner awoke to a noise coming from his garage at 8:30 a.m. He looked out his window and saw Lowrie exiting the side door of the garage with his bike and several personal items.

The homeowner confronted Lowrie, according to police, but Lowrie fled the area with the bike and other belongings. Then, at 10:40 a.m., police got a call about a suspicious person on the 100 block of Lakeville Street. Police went to the area and began searching the creek area of Lakeville Street.

They found Lowrie hiding in the trees and took him into custody. Police say he was wearing hiking boots stolen from the home. All the property was returned to the homeowner.

Police say Lowrie admitted to breaking into the home and was taken to Sonoma County Jail. Lowrie was on probation in Sonoma County at the time of his arrest for narcotics violations.

He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and violation of probation.
