Petaluma Robbery Suspect Arrested And Accused Of Violent Phone Grab

The victim told police he was punched in the face by a man who stole his cell phone.

PETALUMA, CA — A man was arrested in Petaluma on Monday evening after police said he used violence to rob a person standing outside of a gas station.

Around 10:57 p.m., police officers responded to 1440 East Washington Street, where they spoke to a man who said he was robbed, the Petaluma Police Department said in a statement.

The man said he was outside of a Chevron station when a man approached him and punched him before stealing his cell phone. The victim told police the man fled the area on foot.

Police were given a detailed description of the suspect. Shortly after, officers found a suspect matching that description and detained him.

Tate Madson, 26, of Mendocino was identified as the suspect robber. Police said Madson had three outstanding warrants in addition to the robbery charge. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
