Police Arrested A 19-Year-Old Woman On Suspicion Of Attacking Officers After A Hit-And-Run

PETALUMA, CA — A 19-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of attacking officers after a hit-and-run collision Wednesday night, Petaluma police said.

At about 11:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run resulting in minor injuries, and police located the suspect vehicle heading south on U.S. Highway 101 at speeds of more than 100 mph.

The driver, eventually identified as 19-year-old Alicia Wright, pulled over on the highway shoulder and during the stop allegedly showed signs of alcohol intoxication, so officers began a drunk driving investigation, police said.

Wright then pushed an officer and allegedly violently resisted arrest for several minutes before officers were able to detain her.

She suffered injuries in the altercation and was taken to a hospital for treatment before being booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, hit-and-run causing injury, assault on a peace officer, and resisting arrest, according to police.

Petaluma police thanked the California Highway Patrol for assisting by blocking traffic briefly because of the dangerous location of the traffic stop along the highway shoulder.
