A former Petaluma Fire Department battalion chief is missing and presumed drowned in Clear Lake.

CLEAR LAKE - A former Petaluma Fire Department battalion chief is missing and presumed drowned in Clear Lake.
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat says 59-year-old Mike Haberski was sailing by himself in the Konocti Bay area Tuesday evening when his 25-foot boat overturned.
Lake County Undersheriff Chris Macedo told the paper a witness sitting about 300 yards away heard someone yelling “Help!”

Macedo said the observer on shore saw the sailboat and a man in the water without a life vest. A companion called 9-1-1.
The Press Democrat says another man boating on the lake also heard calls for help.

“We’re crushed,” Petaluma Fire Department Battalion Chief Jeff Schach told the paper. “We’re anxious to find out where he is and what happened.”
