Smoke In Petaluma From 'Multiple Controlled Burns': Police

There were no active fires within the city limits, police said.

PETALUMA, CA — Smoke was drifting into Petaluma from multiple controlled burns Thursday, but there was no cause for concern, the Petaluma Police Department said.

"Please do NOT call 911 regarding the smoke," police said shortly after 2:30 p.m. Thursday in a Nixle alert.

Police did not say where the burns were taking place but confirmed none were within city limits, and there were no threats to the community.
