Sonoma County Man Jailed for Car Theft, Meth Possession

Police say Tyler Suit has admitted to numerous recent vehicle thefts throughout Petaluma.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- A man who was caught by police in a stolen vehicle has admitted to being behind a string of car thefts.

Petaluma Police say that around 10:15 am on Thursday, Feb. 9, an officer patrolling the area of E. Madison Street and Maria Drive observed a suspicious vehicle in the area, with a male subject seated in the driver’s seat. The officer conducted a records check on that vehicle and discovered that it had been reported as stolen.

The officer then held the subject in the vehicle at gunpoint until additional officers arrived on scene. The subject was taken into custody and later identified as Tyler Suit of Petaluma.

Police say that Suit was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and admitted to the theft of the stolen vehicle he was located in, as well as numerous other recent vehicle thefts throughout Petaluma.

Suit was booked into Sonoma County Jail for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of methamphetamine.

This isn't suit's first brush with the law; he's been charged multiple times in the past, including in September 2011, when he was arrested for driving on a suspended license, being in violation of probation and being in possession of marijuana.
