Sonoma County Man Killed In West Marin Motorcycle Crash
Investigators said the motorcyclist was traveling at high speeds on Highway 1 when his bike collided with a pickup truck.
NORTH BAY, CA — A motorcyclist from Sonoma County died Friday in a crash on Highway 1 in West Marin, according to authorities.
The Marin County Sheriff's Office said a 911 caller reported the collision around 6:17 p.m. on the highway in the Tomales area, south of Snake Road. According to investigators, a Kawaksi Ninja 650 motorcycle was traveling northbound at high speeds when the rider crossed the double yellow lines and hit a GMC Sierra dual axle truck.
The impact of the crash ejected the motorcyclist from his bike, causing significant traumatic injuries before he came to rest unconscious in the roadway, investigators said. Medics rushed to the scene and said the victim was in cardiopulmonary arrest. He was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m.

The sheriff's office identified the victim Tuesday as Steven Michael Campanali, 57, of Penngrove.
Investigators said a postmortem exam and routine toxicology tests were planned as the coroner's office works to determine the cause and manner of death.
