Update on CSU Contract Negotiations with CFA

The California State University has announced that it will provide all instructional faculty, librarians, counselors and coaches with a general salary increase of 5% effective January 31, 2024, concluding contract negotiations and exhausting the state's impasse process. Details are available in the CSU news release on January 9.

The California Faculty Association (CFA) has called for a work-stoppage strike on all CSU campuses on January 22-26, 2024.

The campus will remain open. University operations, services and events should continue as planned. Sonoma State University has been preparing for the possibility of a strike, and our top priorities continue to be student success, the ability for students to complete their semester courses so they may graduate on time, and providing a safe and welcoming campus environment for everyone.

Student services and resources will remain open. If there are changes to the hours or availability of specific offices, we will update you.

Students should attend classes unless their instructor has communicated that it is canceled. Do not assume that all your classes will be canceled. Some faculty will still choose to hold classes. You should ask your professors/instructors, check Canvas and your @sonoma.edu email for notifications of any changes to your classes.

Picketing at campus entrances may cause traffic delays. Those coming to campus during the strike should plan extra time to arrive.
