Suspect Arrested In Monte Rio Slaying

A Monte Rio man was arrested on suspicion of murder following a brief manhunt Sunday.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A Monte Rio man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of murder after a brief manhunt led to a shelter-in-place order in the neighborhood around Moscow Road north of Main Street.

The suspect, Joseph Douchette, 41, was arrested with the help of a SWAT team on the 21000 block of Mesa Grande Terrace at about 3:30 p.m., according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.

Law enforcement officers had been looking for him since about 2:10 p.m., when deputies were called to the 21000 block of Moscow Road to investigate a report of a gunshot victim.
The victim's name hasn't been released.

In addition to arresting Douchette, deputies also found the gun they suspect he used.

He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail, where he's being held without bail on suspicion of murder, domestic violence, violating a restraining order, resisting arrest and for an outstanding felony warrant, according to jail records.
