Teen Arrested For Attempted Strong-Arm Robbery In Petaluma: PD

A 16-year-old boy was arrested in Petaluma on Friday for attempting a strong-arm robbery of another teen, police said.

PETALUMA, CA — A 16-year-old Santa Rosa boy was arrested in Petaluma on Friday for allegedly attempting a strong-arm robbery of another juvenile.

The victim was walking with a friend in the 2000 block of Gilrix Street at about midnight when they encountered the suspect, who was walking in the opposite direction. He allegedly displayed "erratic behavior" and exchanged words with them, before demanding property from one, according to a news release from the Petaluma Police Department.

The two juveniles fled, and the suspect chased them, police said.

Police responded to the report of "suspicious circumstances" and canvassed the area, eventually finding the suspect, whose name was withheld, hiding under a vehicle.

The victim positively identified the suspect at the scene, according to police.

The juvenile was determined to already be on juvenile probation for a previous offense. He was arrested on allegations of attempted robbery. He is also accused of possessing a controlled substance after police allegedly found Alprazolam, commonly sold under the brand name Xanax, in a bottle the juvenile had that was not prescribed to him.
