Tire Thieves Hit 2 North Bay Towns

Victims found their cars propped up on concrete landscape blocks with the tires and rims stolen.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Investigations were underway in two Sonoma County cities where thieves have been stealing tires and rims from cars.

The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety received multiple reports Sunday through Wednesday of this week from victims who found their cars propped up on concrete landscape blocks with the tires and rims stolen.

The models targeted in Rohnert Park were 2014-2024 Toyota Camry/Corollas and 2020-2024 Honda Civic and Accords.

In Petaluma, police said calls started coming in at 3 a.m. Sunday from multiple victims who'd discovered the tires and rims had been removed from their cars.

By Monday, the PPD had received at least 10 similar reports, all from vehicle owners at various apartment complexes on the east side of Petaluma.

Police in Rohnert Park did not say whether certain areas of the city were targeted.

The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety asked anyone with information that may be helpful to this case to call its mainline at 707-584-2600.

Petaluma police asked anyone with information related to the city's rash of tire thefts to call the police department at 707-778-4373.

Police in both cities encouraged people to call their respective police departments with about suspicious activity. Descriptions of cars and suspects are also helpful, police said.

"If you must park on the street, park close to your residence in well-lit areas and consider purchasing motion sensor lighting or cameras," Petaluma police said.
