An investigation was underway after multiple thefts were reported in the same general area, police said.
PETALUMA, CA—The Petaluma Police Department is investigating a rash of tire thefts on the city's east side.
Dispatchers started receiving reports at 3 a.m. Sunday from multiple victims who'd discovered the tires and rims were removed from their cars. By Monday, the PPD had received at least 10 similar reports, all from vehicle owners at various apartment complexes on the east side of Petaluma.
"Investigators are now looking for additional victims or witnesses who may have seen something suspicious or may have information to help solve these crimes," said Petaluma police Lt. Zilverio Rivera.

"We want to remind community members to call the PPD if they see suspicious persons or activity in their neighborhood late at night," Rivera said. "When calling the PPD, obtaining a description of the subject(s) and a direction for travel is helpful. If you see a suspicious vehicle, please also get a description and directions for travel when reporting. If you must park on the street, park close to your residence in well-lit areas and consider purchasing motion sensor lighting or cameras."
Police asked anyone with information related to the rash of tire thefts to call the police department at 707-778-4373.
