A Peek Inside This Weekend's White Elephant Sale for Oakland Museum

The Oakland Museum's annual fundraiser isn't just a rummage sale — it's a legendary event.

A ceramic outdoor fountain featuring a pineapple, an entire wall of baseball caps, an adult fairy costume with wings, an authentic Chinese wedding bed — those are among the items you may find this weekend at the Oakland Museum of California's 54th annual White Elephant Sale, according to an article on Oakland Local.

Items for sale — many of them more mundane — cover a warehouse area the size of two football fields.

The sale, organized by the Oakland Museum's Women's Board, takes place Saturday and Sunday, March 2 and 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 333 Lancaster St., Oakland. There's a free shuttle from the Fruitvale BART Station. Admission is free.
