• Local garden club hosts 'Living With Wildfire' community meeting on Jan. 21 (piedmontexedra.com) — Piedmont residents can learn how to better protect their homes from wildfire at a “Living With Wildfire” program hosted by the Piedmont Garden Club on Jan. 21, 2026, at Piedmont Community Hall. Fire Chief Dave Brannigan and garden expert Saxon Holt will share practical fire-wise landscaping and home-hardening tips; attendees are asked to RSVP by Jan. 16.

(washingtonpost.com) — A deadly 2024 Cybertruck crash in Piedmont is now central to wrongful-death lawsuits claiming Tesla’s armored doors and thick glass trapped passengers as fire spread. Investigators and safety experts say the vehicle’s electronic door releases and rugged design may hinder escape and rescue, while Tesla denies responsibility and maintains the truck met safety standards.
   

• Piedmont pulls out close win at Campolindo (piedmontexedra.com) — Piedmont High School’s boys basketball team finally broke through against Campolindo, earning a 52-48 road win on Dec. 20 after six straight losses in the series. Led by Dillon Casey’s 19 points and strong team defense, the Highlanders now look ahead to a Jan. 3 home game against McKinleyville, giving local fans a chance to cheer them on in person.
