Art, Jazz, Wine, Buzz Cuts at Grand Avenue's First Thursday

Enjoy art exhibits, live music, complimentary wine and drinks, and discounts at local businesses Aug. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Grand Avenue's fourth "First Thursday on Grand" event.

Get a rubber stamp from any of the participating galleries to qualify for discounts and specials at nearby retailers and eateries.

Galleries include:

Panorama Framing, 3350 Grand Ave., Distant Sun exhibit with paintings by Raymond Wong, artist reception with complimentary wine and snacks.

Backstock Gallery, 3231 Grand Ave., photographs by Simon Pyle, 15 percent off Oak Common merchandise.

Rebooty, 3654 Grand Ave., art from repurposed materials. Meet the owners/artisits, enjoy wine and snacks.

Galleria Scola, 3646 Grand Ave., 6-8 p.m. Prints and assemblages by Elida Scola, Harry Best on steel drums, complimentary rum and cola.

Among the other specials (remember to get stamped first!):

—Free buzz cuts, beer and snacks with donation to an autism-related cause at Slick and Dapper Barber Emporium, 3619 Grand Ave.

—Fiber arts demonstrations at San Francisco Fiber Studio, 3711 Grand Ave.

Grand Tavern will extend its happy hour to 9 p.m., Kingman's Lucky Lounge will offer half-price wine, beer and well drinks during the First Thursday event, and Monkey Forest Road will have live jazz from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

Other Grand Avenue businesses offering discounts or free-with-purchase items during the First Thursday event include Miss Saigon, The Star on Grand, Ikaros, Grand Flowers, Walden Pond Books, Cafe Romanat, Connie's Cantina, Newfangles Tall Fashions, Dr. J's Closet, and Urban Boutique and Furniture.
