Assistance League’s TeleCare Clients Share Holiday Traditions

Someone who cares is as close as your phone.

Assistance League® Diablo Valley is a nonprofit, member volunteer organization dedicated to improving lives in our community through hands-on programs. Since 1971, TeleCare trained member volunteers have made daily reassurance phone calls, free of charge, to homebound clients of all ages and, more recently, to those not necessarily homebound nor living alone.

Every Monday through Friday, volunteers and clients alike continue to enjoy friendly chats about such things as health and hobbies, as well as an overall exchange of ideas. A daily journal on each TeleCare client assures individual attention.

On Friday, December 6, prior to a sumptuous meal of holiday delights, a relatively new element captured the hearts of TeleCare clients and volunteers alike, childhood reminiscences of Christmas. One TeleCare volunteer shared magical moments when living in East Germany. Another told of her childhood in Ireland. Memories of India and the United States followed, all rich in sentiment and awe.

Much to the delight of the attendees, Santa Clause, resplendent in red and white, literally appeared shortly thereafter. Imagine everyone’s awe when he presented each client with a gift, that reflected the recipient’s individual interest! Way to go, Santa!

You or someone you know might want to become a client. If so, please call 925-934-0901 and request a TeleCare form.
