Developer Lists Piedmont Mansion Amid FBI Probe: Reports
FBI agents searched the Sonoma County home Friday, one day after a Piedmont mansion hit the market for $9.9 million, according to reports.
PIEDMONT, CA — A developer under federal scrutiny had his Sonoma County home raided by the FBI on Friday, one day after putting his sprawling Pedimont mansion up for sale, according to multiple reports.
As The Press Democrat reports, FBI agents searched a home belonging to Ken Mattson northeast of Sonoma Friday morning amid growing scrutiny into allegations he defrauded investors. The newspaper reported that the raid followed emails from a business partner sent to investors alleging "improper transactions." No one was detained during the operation.
According to The Press Democrat, Mattson's business practices have drawn suspicion over the years, including allegations that more than 100 properties were allowed to fall into disrepair.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported Mattson's portfolio includes more than $240 million in properties in the Sonoma area, including the Sonoma Cheese Factory and General's Daughter. According to the Chronicle, Mattson bought the 12,000-square-foot "Harrow Manor" in Piedmont in 1999 and listed the six-bedroom home for sale at $9.9 million on Thursday.
