Encore Screening of 'The Waiting Room' Next Week
The Oscar-nominated documentary by Piedmont filmmaker Peter Nicks will have a benefit showing at the Elmwood Theatre in Berkeley.
If you missed seeing The Waiting Room, the Oscar-nominated documentary produced and directed by Piedmont filmmaker Peter Nicks, you have another chance Thursday, April 11.
The film will have an encore presentation at 7 p.m. at the Rialto Cinemas Elmwood (Elmwood Theatre), 2966 College Ave., Berkeley (at Ashby). Nicks will be on hand to answer questions after the film showing.
The screening is a benefit for the LifeLong West Berkeley Capital Campaign, and tickets are $25 per person.

The Waiting Room is a feature-length immersive documentary, released in 2012, that uses unprecedented access to go behind the doors of Oakland’s Highland Hospital.
Using a blend of cinema verité and characters’ voiceover, the film offers a raw, intimate and often uplifting look at how patients, staff and caregivers cope with disease, bureaucracy, frustration, hope and hard choices during one typically hectic day.

Nicks has produced projects for network, cable and public television exploring topics such as immigration, journalism and technology. Before making The Waiting Room, he worked as a staff producer forABC News in New York and as a producer for the innovative PBS documentary series Life 360.
