Grand Ave. Robbery Suspects Face Preliminary Hearing on Aug 20

The two men, arrested after a July 8 Piedmont police pursuit that ended in a car crash near the Grand Avenue on-ramp to I-580, remain in custody, with bail for each set at close to a half-million dollars.

Two men arrested after an armed robbery on Grand Avenue last month will face a preliminary hearing in Alameda County Superior Court on Aug. 20, according to court documents.

Terrance Edward Garrett, 19, and Jamoni Josephlee Pullum, 19, were taken into custody by Piedmont police July 8 after a car chase that ended with the suspects' vehicle crashing and catching fire near the Grand Avenue on-ramp to Interstate 580.

They are suspected of robbing victims who were walking in the 1500 block of Grand Avenue in Piedmont about 12:11 p.m., according to Piedmont Police Chief Rikki Goede.

Both escaped from the vehicle and fled but were pursued on foot by Piedmont police officers and captured.

Garrett and Pullum appeared in Superior Court Wednesday for a pre-trial hearing. The preliminary hearing later this month will determine if there is enough evidence to hold them for trial.

Meanwhile, both men remain in custody.

Pullum, who is charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, assault with a firearm and evading police, is being held at Santa Rita County Jail in lieu of $485,000 bail. He also faces charges of burglary and possession of narcotics for sale stemming from separate incidents outside Piedmont.

Garrett is charged with armed robbery with use of a firearm and with evading police. As of Wednesday he was in custody at the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility in Oakland in lieu of $450,000 bail.
