Police: Unconfirmed Report of Mountain Lion Sighting in Montclair
A caller reported seeing the cougar on Merriewood Drive Thursday morning.

Oakland police received an unconfirmed report of a mountain lion spotted about 11 a.m. Thursday in or near the 5900 block of Merriewood Drive in Oakland's Montlair district, according to a community announcement from Oakland Police Department Lt. Christopher Bolton.
"The caller stated that the animal ran away shortly after being spotted," the announcement says.
"At this time, no threat to public safety is perceived."
