Ordinaire Wine Bar Opens Today on Grand Avenue
The Red Whale, a wine shop and wine bar under construction for the past several months, will have its soft opening today under a new name.
The Red Whale, a new wine shop and wine bar at 3354 Grand Ave., Oakland, will open for business today — but under a new name, according to the shop's Facebook page.
It's a "soft opening" today for the renamed Ordinaire Wine Shop & Wine Bar, with a grand opening celebration to be scheduled within a few weeks. Local residents are invited to drop by and introduce themselves to owner Bradford Taylor.
The name change was prompted by the possibility o a legal dispute over rights to the name Red Whale, according to the Facebook post.
Ordinaire will focus on limited-release California wines and will offer cheeses and small plates in addition to wine.
