• Piedmont kids ride bikes together after AC transit bus route eliminated (ktvu.com) — After AC Transit cut a key bus line, Piedmont parents created a “bike bus” so about 20 Havens Elementary students could ride together from the Piedmont Hills to school. With help from a Piedmont police bike escort, organizers hope the growing effort will keep kids safe, independent, and less reliant on shrinking transit options.
   

• Highlanders open league play victorious (piedmontexedra.com) — Piedmont High School’s boys basketball team kicked off league play with a dominant 73-49 road win over San Leandro, led by 22 points from Dillon Casey. Coach Ben Spencer also praised P.J. Brayer and bench spark Akash Bornstein. The Highlanders next visit St. Joseph-Notre Dame today and rival Bishop O’Dowd on January 13.
