Police Blotter: $300 Petty Cash Stolen at Piedmont Pool
The Piedmont police log for March 4-11 includes the theft of $300 from petty cash at the Piedmont pool, a stolen Honda Accord, two stolen bikes found, a key taken from under a front mat, and three cases each of auto burglary and identity theft.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log March 4-11. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.
MONDAY, MARCH 4
Suspicious circumstance – At 7:07 p.m., a resident in the first block of Selborne Drive reported that all outdoor circuit breakers had been turned off about 10:30 a.m. that day and requested extra patrol.
Suspicious circumstance – At 10:14 p.m., a resident in the first block of Greenbank Avenue reported that a man was loading items into a vehicle. The man was contacted by police and turned out to be house-sitting.

TUESDAY, MARCH 5
Bikes stolen, located – Two bikes reported stolen from a detached garage in the 500 block of Scenic were found next to a home in the 500 block of Blair Avenue.

Suspicous circumstance – At 10:19 a.m., a caller in the first block of York Drive reported seeing someone in the home of neighbors who are out of town. The person in the house turned to be a real estate agent.
Key stolen – At 7:21 p.m., a caller in the first block of Jerome Avenue reported that a key was taken from under the front mat sometime during the previous hour.
Money stolen at swimming pool – At 8:13 p.m., the pool manager of the Piedmont Community Pool reported that $300 in petty cash was stolen.
Identity theft – A resident in the 100 block of Estates Drive reported that she was contacted by a bank informing her that someone tried to take out a loan in her name.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6
Auto burglary – A woman in the 1600 block of Grand Avenue reported an auto burglary with a window of the vehicle smashed.
Vehicle vs. pedestrian – Calls at 8:49 and 8:57 a.m. reported an accident involving a vehicle and pedestrian injury at Highland and Craig Avenues.
Identity theft – A resident in the 100 block of Somerset Road reported a case of identity theft.
Assault – A resident in the 1000 block of Oakland Avenue reported he was assaulted by his ex-neighbor.
Identity theft – A resident in the 200 block of Sandringham Road reported a case of identity theft.
THURSDAY, MARCH 7
Auto burglary – A caller in the 300 block of Olive Avenue reported that the front passenger window of an auto broken and a backpack stolen overnight.
iPhone found – A caller in the first block of Fairview Avenue reported finding an iPhone in a purple cover in front of his residence.
FRIDAY, MARCH 8
Cat hit by car – At 8:03 a.m., a caller in the 100 block of Scenic Avenue reported a cat hit by a car. The caller said he was taking the cat to the vet.
Bike theft suspected – A caller at 9:25 a.m. said he believes three men stole a bicycle and put it in the back of their vehicle before driving off on Cambridge.
Possible bike vs. auto – An "ambulance emergency" call at 3:25 p.m. reported a person fell off a bike at Highland Way and Mountain Aveune. The Piedmont Fire Department alerted police that it was a "possible vehicle vs. bicyclist."
SATURDAY, MARCH 9
Possible shot heard – A possible shot heard near 1000 block of Park Lane was reported at 10:16 p.m.
SUNDAY, MARCH 10
Suspicious circumstance – A caller reported that a man with gray bushy hair wearing red or purple pants and carrying a Subway sandwich bag was walking in the area of Greenbank and Kingston avenues for 20 minutes. The man turned out to be a local resident.
Grass fire – A small grass fire in area about four feet square was reported at 6:14 p.m. in the 800 block of Moraga Avenue near the skate park. It was listed as under control at 6:26 p.m.
MONDAY, MARCH 11
Auto burglary – At 12:53 a.m., the passenger side window was reported broken out of a vehicle in the 100 block of Nova Avenue.
Auto stolen – At 8:06 a.m., a woman in the first block of Florida Avenue reported a 1996 black Honda Accord was stolen.
