UPDATE: Police Looking for Elderly Missing Man Last Seen in Oakland

Jude Hunter, 81, was last seen in Oakland and was supposed to return home to Newark on Jan. 10. Police say he is at risk and suffers from dementia.

Update, Jan. 19, 2012: On Jan. 17, the received a call from a New York City Hospital advising that Jude Hunter was currently being seen at their hospital. NYPD Detectives made contact with Hunter and determined he was not injured.

Newark poilce are asking the community, including Oakland area residents, for help in locating a missing at-risk elderly man who suffers from dementia.

Jude Hunter, 81, of Newark was last seen at 10700 MacArthur Blvd. in Oakland at noon on Jan. 10 after leaving a doctor's appointment, police said in a community alert issued Wednesday evening.

Hunter was expected to return to his care home in Newark but never boarded the ParaTransit that would have taken him there.

He is described as a 5-foot-11, 180 pound black male who was last seen wearing a black shirt. His other clothing was unknown.

Police said Hunter has dementia and must take numerous medications, which he has not had since the morning of Jan. 10.

Anyone with information about Hunter's whereabouts is asked to call Newark police at 510-578-4237.
