Police Release Names of 2 Recent Oakland Homicide Victims

A GoFundMe account has been set up on behalf of one of the victims.

Oakland police today released the names of two recent homicide victims, one of which was a teenage boy. Dwan Taylor, a 16-year-old who also went by the name "Redd", was fatally shot in the 8800 block of Hillside Street at about 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 16.

According to a GoFundMe account set up on behalf of Taylor's family, he was a student at Fremont High School in Oakland. The account had raised $5,785 as of this morning.

More recently, a fatal shooting at 10:46 p.m. Thursday in the 8000 block of Olive Street took the life of 23-year-old Ruben Alvarado of Oakland. Police aren't yet releasing the name of another homicide victim
last week, a man who was found fatally stabbed at Mosswood Park on Wednesday morning.
