Teens Arrested on Suspicion of Carjacking at MacArthur BART
BART surveillance footage allowed police to identify the two suspects and obtain arrest warrants from the Alameda County DA's office.
OAKLAND, CA — Two teenagers were arrested in Oakland this week in connection with a carjacking at the MacArthur BART station on Oct. 10. At 11:51 p.m., an armed teenage boy approached the two victims walking to their 2004 BMW 330 in the BART parking structure and demanded that they put their property in the car, BART officials said.
The victims put two iPhones in the car. A teenage girl then appeared and jumped in the car with the boy. The two suspects drove off in the car. BART surveillance footage allowed police to identify the two suspects and obtain arrest warrants from the Alameda County District Attorney's office.
The suspects allegedly committed another carjacking in Oakland on Sunday. The girl was arrested, but the boy escaped, BART officials said. The boy was then arrested on Saturday.

"These arrests could not have been made if it were not for our surveillance system, cooperation from the victims, and the follow-through by our BART officers and detectives," BART Police Chief Kenton Rainey said in a statement.
"The video will help bring justice to these carjackers when they have their day in court," Rainey said.
