By Bay City News

A house fire in Hercules early Saturday morning displaced one resident and injured a firefighter, Rodeo-Hercules Fire Protection District officials said. The fire was reported at 12:13 a.m. at the two-story home in the 100 block of Zircon Court, fire officials said.

Arriving crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the home. One resident, and the lone occupant at the home, was able to get out of the house uninjured, officials said.

The second-floor bedroom and hallway were damaged by flames and there was smoke damage throughout the house, officials said. One firefighter suffered a minor injury from a fall, but was treated at the scene, officials said. The displaced resident is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

Crews from Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and Pinole Fire Department also responded, along with assistance from other emergency personnel.
