Lupine Hills Elementary Student Struck by Car

The 11-year-old suffered minor injuries after running into the street from between two parked vehicles, according to police.

An 11-year-old student was struck by a car Wednesday morning at around 8:30am outside the entrance to Lupine Hills Elementary School. The student ran into the street mid-block from between two parked vehicles, according to the police report, and was hit by a car travelling east on Lupine Road. The 11-year-old suffered no major injuries but was transported to hospital by the Fire Department as a precaution.

Although pedestrians often cause such accidents by entering the road unseen, drivers should take extra precaution near schools by adhering to school zone speed limits, said Sgt. Ruben A. Rodriguez. School zones have a maximum 25 mph limit across the board, with some zones imposing limits as low as 15 mph.
