Person of Interest in Pregnant Woman's Death Turns Himself In
The fatal San Pablo shooting occurred on Monday.
SAN PABLO, CA — San Pablo police said that a person of interest in the shooting death of an 18-year-old pregnant woman Monday turned himself in to police today.
Luciano Duarte, 21, turned himself in to police at 9:30 a.m. Officers will interview him to get more information about the shooting that led to the death of Ilaysia McCoy and her child, police said.
Earlier this morning in Vallejo, police arrested 21-year-old Luis Monje-Morales Jr. as a suspect in the shooting. Monje-Morales was arrested after a several-hour search by officers who found him hiding in an apartment in the first block of Valle Vista Avenue.
McCoy was killed after an argument on Monday, according to police. Officers found her lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound at around 7:50 p.m. in the 1700 block of 17th Street. She was taken to a
hospital where she and her unborn child died.

Police spokesman Cmdr. Sid DeJesus said police will be working with the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office to decide whether the killing is a double homicide.
"I can almost assure you whatever can be charged will be charged," he said.
