L&L Hawaiian Barbecue Shuts Down Pleasant Hill Location

The Asian and American fusion chain restaurant has shut down its Pleasant Hill location.

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue closed in early May after almost nine years of operation. The exterior signs have been removed, the windows are papered over and the store is being emptied.

Of the 60 reviews on Yelp.com, more than half gave L&L Barbecue just one or two stars. One reviewer, claiming to be a former employee, said that the quality of the food "dramatically changed from good to bad" after the restaurant changed ownership in 2006. Multiple reviewers said the place was "overpriced" and "dirty." Others said that the Pleasant Hill location was not representative of the experience at other L&L locations.

There are 22 other L&L locations in the Bay Area, with the nearest in Martinez at 1029 Arnold Dr., #2. The franchise is based in Honolulu, Hawaii.
