Major Injuries to Concord Man in Lafayette Crash

A preliminary CHP investigation determined the man might have been intoxicated. He has not been arrested.

A 20-year-old man suspected of driving while under the influence suffered major injuries in a collision in Lafayette early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Three people were taken to the hospital after the crash, which CHP officials said occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on westbound state Highway 24 near Pleasant Hill Road.

A Concord man crashed his 1999 Nissan Altima into another Altima - a 2008 model - according to the CHP. After that impact, the 1999 Altima lost control and ended up in an embankment along the highway. The driver and a front passenger in the 2008 Altima both suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
