Poll: Do You Still Use the Post Office?
Thousands of post offices will be saved from closure under a new plan to cut business hours instead. Do you still use the post office, or is it a relic of days gone by?

Struggling under the weight of financial losses, the United States Postal Service is contemplating an overhaul — but rather than close thousands of rural post offices, the agency will cut opening hours.
The new proposal, to be implemented over the course of two years, will trim business hours to between two and six hours a day for more than 13,000 struggling post offices in small-town America. USPS estimates savings of $500 million a year.
Although the Pleasant Hill post office is not targeted for operation-hour changes, USPS is struggling with a leak of $25-million per day. The agency plans to save money by streamlining services and offering stamps and packaging in grocery stores. Last month, the Senate passed legislation to stop the closure of post offices and delay the elimination of Saturday delivery — a move criticized for not giving the post office enough flexibility to fix its financial problems.
